United Way Receives $12,500 Donation on Behalf of 1st Gateway Credit Union

April 28, 2022

Staff from 1st Gateway Credit Union (1GCU) recently presented a check to United Way of Clinton County for $12,500. The donation is part of Elan's charitable giving program, Across the Country, and will help support members in Camanche, Clinton, DeWitt and the surrounding area.

United Way currently works with eighteen agencies to aid community members with health and wellness services, education, and financial stability.

“1st Gateway Credit Union and Elan are proud to collaborate with United Way to help them fulfill their mission. Although United Way is a national organization, the money raised locally stays in our communities. We felt by pledging to United Way, this was our easiest way to reach multiple local agencies and programs that will help address our community’s most pressing needs,” added Lindsay Totten, Marketing and Community Impact Manager at 1st Gateway Credit Union.

The $12,500 donation will be distributed to various programs that have the strongest need. To show the breadth of their work, United Way shared a few recent overall achievements including: 140 students have a one-on-one reading counselor to increase their reading ability throughout the school year, 275 students receive after-school and summer-time care, 991 kids, pre-school age and younger, are receiving a children's book every month through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and over 5,000 women are provided free and affordable health care that they would not have access to.
